Glucomannan is a fiber found in the root tuber of the leopard konjac, better known as devil's tongue (Latin: Amorphophallus konjac). The plant is very robust, its flowers can grow to 55 centimeters and its leaves to 1.3 meters. The tubers to be used can reach up to 25 centimeters. This perennial plant is native to tropical and subtropical areas of East Asia.

The glucomannan content of the dried root tuber is around 40%. It is known to be a highly viscous polysaccharide that has an extraordinary swelling capacity. As a result of moisture, it increases to a multiple of its volume. This ability and its low calorie content make it valuable during weight loss.

What is Garcinia?
