 What is green tea?

The interesting thing about tea, known in Latin as Camellia sinensis, is that in its natural form it is not a shrub, but a tree-like plant, which can grow up to 8-10 meters high in its original place of production. Not only its leaves, but also other parts can be used to make tea.

The tea plant lives an average of 8-10 years and bears fruit in about 4 years. Cultivated specimens are not allowed to grow to the size of a tea tree, they are pruned back to tea bushes. The leaves that yield the best quality tea are harvested from the area around the top of the shoots from tea bushes that have not yet exceeded 7-8 years of age.

The two most cultivated types of tea are Chinese tea and Assam tea. The former is native to the Yunnan province of China, and the latter variant comes from India.

Green tea and black tea are both made from the aforementioned Camellia sinensis plant. The difference is that unlike black tea, green tea is not fermented at all. After harvesting, the tea leaves are steamed or heated and then dried. In this way, green tea is preserved without preservatives, naturally inhibiting fermentation processes.

 What is inulin?

Inulin or inulins are polysaccharides found in nature in many plant species. In plants, as a substance that accumulates mainly in the rhizome or root, it performs an energy storage function. It is also interesting that plants that contain inulin usually do not contain starch.

The effect of inulin is due to the peculiarity of the human digestive system. Since the organism does not have the enzymes necessary to break down inulin, it passes through the first stage of the digestive system undigested. Inulin begins to be broken down by bacteria in the large intestine, so it serves as food for the good (symbiont) anaerobic bacteria of the intestine.
